Local Gin
Here at Chestnut House we’re all about small, local makers, especially from our home county of Cumbria, which includes the stunning Lake District National Park.
The area is bursting with Cumbrian gins made by local artisans, distilled using water known for its quality and taste. That’s why gins from this region have such a unique taste and flavour profile, and why we see bottles flying off the shelves. Just try some for yourself from our collection below.
Cumbrian gin
Black Cat Gin
Run by a working mum of two children, Black Cat Distillery in the Eden Valley has been a true labour of love. Surrounded as it is by neolithic, Roman and Norman history, the distillery brings echoes of its past into every sip of its gin, fusing traditional techniques with modern international flavours.
Shed One
This award-winning Cumbrian gin is created by a husband-and-wife team on the edge of the historic Ulverston Canal. Smooth and bold, their quirkily named gins include their first ever, Cuckold’s Revenge Gin, and a more recent creation, Yiayia Gin, inspired by Greek life and history.
Lakes Gin
Primarily known for their excellent whiskys, the Lakes Distillery is also a producer of some fine dry and flavoured gins. Their ethos is ‘less is more’, with a careful focus on every nuance of flavour and scent.
Cumberland Saucy Gin
You can’t get more local than Cumberland Saucy Gin, which is our very own creation! Fully inspired by the county of Cumbria, its food traditions and its history, this contemporary Cumbrian gin shares a flavour with the iconic Cumberland Sauce, which is particularly popular during Christmas.
