London Dry Gin
What is London dry gin?
London dry gin is gin in its most basic and beautiful state: it’s the drink’s answer to “I woke up like this”. No artificial flavours, no added sweeteners, just a clean taste from the botanicals and perhaps a touch of natural sugars.
Ultimately, dry gin’s dominating flavour is juniper. The varied and unique tastes you get from different brands depend on the balance of other ingredients, which tend to be botanicals such as coriander and citrus.
The classic dry gin is what’s most often used in our favourite gin cocktails such as a Martini. It’s a classic flavour that you can always find in any well-stocked drinks cabinet!
Dry gin from London
Despite its name, London dry gin doesn’t actually have to be made in the UK’s capital city. In fact, the name just refers to the way in which it’s made, a process that was established during the gin craze of the 1700s, where lots of horrible and downright dangerous gins were created by anyone and everyone. London dry gin was a better and safer way of making the popular spirit, and it has retained its quality ever since.
London dry gin may bear the famous city’s name, but it can actually be made anywhere in the world.
