Dalemain Marmalade
Dalemain Marmalade comes from just up the road from our shop in Pooley Bridge! Dalemain Mansion, a beautiful stately home and gardens, is world-renowned for its marmalade. It even hosts a popular marmalade festival every year, where the best marmalades from around the world are sampled and awarded prizes.
It’s no surprise, then, that Dalemain produces its very own collection of delicious marmalades. The jams – which have to consist of a particular amount of citrus fruit to be honoured with the name – are the perfect mix of sweet and tart flavours.
What’s in a name?
Each Dalemain marmalade is named for important aspects of the estate or family. The first, Jane’s Marmalade, is named after the creator herself. Using a recipe that Jane made with her mother when younger, this nostalgic option is bold and full, with generous chunks of real fruit in every bite.
Other Dalemain marmalades in our collection include George’s, named for Jane’s son; Dalemain’s Kitchen Garden, created from a Victorian recipe; and Apple and Brandy, which comes from the estate’s walled garden and includes an extra kick of brandy.
Each marmalade has its own unique flavour and texture, so all you need to do is pick your favourite!
How to eat your marmalade
The common way to eat marmalade is a good one – thickly slathered on a warm piece of toast for your breakfast. But have you thought about trying your marmalade in other ways too? Different flavours will work well for different options, but this condiment can be used topped on gingerbread, glazed on ham, or included as a side to Cumberland sausage. If you’re even more adventurous, try it with fish or even in a marmalade cocktail! There’s no end to the things you can enhance with a spoonful of Dalemain Marmalade!
