The Lakes Distillery have in recent years released single malt whiskies in two series: “The Editions” and “The Whiskymaker’s Reserve”. The “Whiskymaker’s Reserve” series is the heart and core of the whisky production at the distillery with a heavy sherry influence, whilst the Editions have been released to demonstrate the capability of the distillery to explore the artistic nature if the whisky making and blending process.
Exploring the subtleties of flavour and painting a very different picture to The Lakes’ house style, Forbidden Fruit is as unexpected as it is thought-provoking. Complex and bold, fragrant and fascinating, this tempting single malt is the product of creative rebellion, inspired by a deep curiosity to push the boundaries of flavour creation. Combining two polar opposite flavour profiles, Forbidden Fruit pairs the old rustic characters of Port with the vibrant exotic fruits of dessert wine and, in challenging traditional convention, takes you on a pioneering adventure into the unknown.
The Lakes Forbidden Fruit Whiskymakers Editions is made with carefully designed pockets of flavour from our collection of bespoke casks, the limited-edition release showcases our increasing sense of adventure and blending expertise. Unique, of the moment, and never to be repeated, it is a singular expression of creative and artistic freedom with Turkish delight and sugared rose petals awakening the senses to reveal bold, stridently stewed peaches and apple pie, with hints of earthy cocoa beans and airy vanilla clotted cream.
