Bowness Bay Brewery was founded in Kendal in the Lake District and this beautiful landscape continues to inspire them every day and provide the Lakeland water that makes the freshest beer you’ll ever taste.
Bowness Bay Brewing has built an enviable reputation for the consistent taste and quality of their ales and lagers. Â Swan Blonde was one of the first beers they ever brewed and to this day it remains one of their most popular pale ales.
Since then they have had a number of award-winning additions to the family, such as Swan Free and Steamer IPA , both of which were awarded bronze at the highly regarded World Beer Awards and Helles Lager, which received a prestigious silver award.
Bowness Bay Brewing acquired Appleby Brewery in August 2019. Appleby Brewery brews distinctive ales infused with the spirit of Cumbria. From classic bitters to bold IPAs, the collection includes some humorous names playing on age-related themes such as ‘Senior Moment’, ‘Middle Aged Spread’ and ‘Midlife Crisis’.

Bowness Bay Swan Free is an American triple hopped Session IPA, but not as you know it! Modern low alcohol brewing techniques have been optimised to deliver a full flavour, hop forward craft beer which has 0.05% ABV.
