Meet Georgia Grisedale
Georgia joined us in September 2020 as a 20-year-old with bags of enthusiasm and energy. You’ll spot her on the shop floor, but she’s also busy behind the scenes working on our online shop and getting to grips with our ordering system.
With a young dog at home, Georgia always has a friendly hello for our canine visitors – and she has treats at hand too.
Supper off the shelf: Got to be one of two things – either the Steak Pie or Sirloin Steaks – both from Low Howgill Butchers & Deli – the meat comes from their family farm and Steve is not only the butcher, but he often delivers to us too.
Fun outside work: Family life and close friends are important, and I spend a lot of time walking – with Mum and our Border Collie Skye, it would be to Eycott Hill Nature Reserve. With friends we’re regulars around Ullswater and during the summer months, without fail, we stop off at Pooley Bridge for a drink – it’s a place where I know a lot of people, and now I work here too.
More about Georgia:
There were a lot of applicants for this position, but when we interviewed Georgia, we discovered a gem. And it seems she loves working here too.
Not fancying Uni, Georgia wanted a job where she could learn and work her way up. Before joining us she would often visit the shop as a customer – it’s just 10-15 minutes from her home, so now thinks she’s landed what she calls her dream job – long may that last.
Georgia is learning on the job and thanks to Andrew and Darren, she already knows a great deal about the different gins we stock. If you ask her a question she’ll probably know the answer, but if she doesn’t, she’ll definitely ask one of the team who will.
Busy meeting our local suppliers, and finding out more about the products we sell, has given Georgia a real boost and you’ll find she has a quiet confidence when talking to customers and they appreciate her in-depth knowledge.
Our online business is growing fast, so you’ll be reassured that as a youngster, Georgia is easily getting to grips with our web listings, orders, and shop deliveries. And if you need any advice about what to add to a hamper – she’ll have some great suggestions.
We asked Georgia what’s her favourite part of the job? She said “Wow, well, I love the fact that we’re more than a grocers and off licence – we’re a real hub of food and drink that sells the best of everything Cumbria and the Lake District has to offer. But best of all is the warmth and friendly atmosphere – you can have the worst day ever, but you always go home happy – we’re the best at being cheerful and positive.
